Mangaluru, Aug 14: The anti-ragging and drug addiction prevention cell of St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), organized a guest lecture on the theme 'Be a Buddy, Not a Bully' and 'Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan' on August 13 at the Eric Mathias Hall, Maffei Block.
Dr Thomas Scaria, an internationally certified addiction professional and trainer, served as the resource person. In his address, Dr Thomas provided participants with fundamental knowledge about drug abuse, emphasizing its profound impact on youth.
He highlighted that both legal and illegal drugs can be detrimental to health, leading to the deterioration of young people's well-being. His insights were highly informative, stressing the importance of being assertive in the face of drug abuse.
The event was attended by Dr Loveena Lobo, director of PG social sciences, Dr Roshan Monteiro, the coordinator of the programme, and Shimil PV, chair of the counselling department, other counsellors, MSW, and UG students were present at the event.
During the programme, MSW students performed a mime show that effectively created awareness about saying ‘NO’ to ragging and drug abuse.
Charlene Rebimbus, the counsellor for PG courses, compered the programme, while Neha Poojary, an MSW student, proposed the vote of thanks.
