Mangaluru, Aug 14: The nursery kids of Mount Carmel Central School, Mangaluru joyfully celebrated the 78th Independence Day on August 13, in the Nursery Hall. The little ones, full of joy and enthusiasm, were eager to express their patriotism for the nation.
The programme commenced with a soulful prayer, setting a reverent tone for the day. Sister Leela, Superior of Maryhill Convent graced the occasion as the chief guest.
The celebration featured various performances by the children, who showcased their love for the nation through dances and acts highlighting the significance of national symbols. Their performances beautifully blended joy, pride and respect for the country.
The chief guest, Sister Leela then took to the stage to present medals and certificates to the winners of the competitions held as part of the celebration.
In her address, she warmly congratulated the young performers. Quoting Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, she said, "You are little bits of India. If you are small, India will be small. If you are great, India will be great." These words emphasized the importance of nurturing and educating the young minds of today for a greater India tomorrow.
Sister Leela also encouraged the parents present to reflect on the sacrifices made by freedom fighters and to recommit to keeping their dreams alive. She urged everyone to ask themselves, "Whatmore can I do for my country?"
The programme concluded with singing of the national anthem, filling the air with a sense of unity and patriotism. The celebrations not only commemorated a significant historical event but also instilled a sense of national pride and responsibility in the young minds and the entire community.
As part of the festivities, various activities were conducted for the children. The nursery campus was beautifully adorned in the colours of the Indian flag, creating a vibrant and patriotic atmosphere. The children dressed in tri-colour themed outfits further enhanced the festive spirit of the day, symbolising their patriotism and for the nation.
