Mangaluru: Expert PU College celebrates 78th Independence Day

Mangaluru, Aug 15: The Expert PU College, Kodialbail commemorated India’s 78 years of Independence amidst patriotic fervour at the college premises. Capt Ganesh Karnik, former member of legislative council graced the event as the chief guest. He unfurled the national flag. In his address to the students, he urged students to honour the struggles of the Indian soldiers and implement self-discipline in their own lives.

Chairman Narendra L Nayak inspired the students with a heartfelt appeal, urging everyone to embrace the idea of serving the nation in whatever capacity they can, highlighting the role of individual contribution to society.

The occasion also marked the inauguration of the student council for the academic year 2024-25. Dr Ushaprabha Nayak, vice chairperson, administered the cabinet oath to the newly elected members. In her address, she challenged the students not to dwell on the country’s glorious past. They must actively shape the present and future as the future citizen. She reminded them, "Independence is not merely happiness, but a responsibility that comes with a cost and sacrifices."

The elected members are, Vaishnavi Puthran as the president, Thvisha R Acharya as the secretary, Purab Shetty as the vice-president and Praneetha as the joint secretary.

IT head, Ankush N Nayak, architecture, Deepika A Nayak, and principal, Prof Ramachandra Bhat were also present.
