Kasargod, Aug 15: On August 15, Udaya Higher Secondary School, Manjeshwar celebrated India's 78th Independence Day with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor. The event took place on the school ground, where students, staff, invited guests and gathered to commemorate this significant day.

The day began with the flag hoisting ceremony, led by the chief guest, Fr Louis Mariadas, the parish priest of Infant Jesus Church Hosangady, In his inspiring address, Fr Louis Mariadas emphasized, "While we have achieved political freedom, the need mental and spiritual freedom remains a vital pursuit for every individual."

The principal, Jerald Ivan Crasta, delivered a profound message on the essence of freedom, highlighting that true freedom is about being responsible in lives. His words resonated deeply with the audience, setting the tone for the day's events.

The formal program, expertly anchored by Mohammed Arafath of 10th standard. Nafeesath Fasiha, also from the 10th standard, delivered the welcome speech, extending a warm greeting to all present. Arfanaaz, a plus two student, eloquently explained the significance of Independence Day, reminding everyone of the sacrifices made by countless freedom fighters.

The chief guest’s speech was the highlight of the event, as Fr Mariadas passionately spoke about the importance of preserving the hard-earned freedom and fostering unity in diversity.

The formal program concluded with a vote of thanks by Nafeesath Fazna of 9th standard, who expressed gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of the event.

Following the formalities, a vibrant cultural programme unfolded, showcasing the immense talent of the students. The KG section charmed the audience with their energetic dance performance, followed by a dance with art presentation that captivated everyone with its creativity. The spirit of patriotism soared high with a soulful rendition of a patriotic Song.

The event also included two rounds of prize distribution, acknowledging the achievements of students in various competitions. Sangeetha Shilpa, a cultural item, added a melodic touch to the proceedings. The principal’s message during the cultural program reiterated the importance of upholding the values of independence in our daily lives.

The day’s celebrations culminated in a dynamic fusion dance, which was met with loud applause. The event concluded with the singing of the school anthem, a fitting end to a day filled with pride and patriotism.
