Mangaluru: St Monica School English Medium School celebrates India's 78th Independence day

Mangaluru, Aug 15: The St Monica School English Medium School celebrated India's 78th Independence day in the campus on August 15.

Chandrakala welcomed the gathering and the event began with the flag hoisting ceremony by the Manager Father Melwyn D' Souza, followed by the National Anthem and the parade by the students of the four houses.

The guest gave an inspiring speech highlighting the significance of the day.

The principal Sr Ancy Mathew, vice-principal Fr Sooraj Joseph Lobo, School Management Committee members and The Parish Pastrol Council members Raju Stephen D'Souza, secretary Lydia D'Souza, students and parents were also present.

Mass drill, speech on the importance of the day by the school SPL Shashwath, patriotic dance and patriotic songs were the major events exhibited by the students.

Prizes were distributed to the winners of the competitions like reading competition, drawing, poster making, and quiz competitions connected to environment day and Independence Day.

The programme came to an end with a vote of thanks proposed by Nuzha Fathima and distribution of sweets to everyone present.
