Mangaluru: Hospitality science dept of YIASCM hosts 'HospiTalent - Flavour of Freedom'

Mangaluru, Aug 16: The department of hospitality science at Yenepoya Institute of Arts, Science, Commerce & Management (YIASCM) celebrated Independence Day with great fervour by organizing the event 'HospiTalent - Flavour of Freedom'. The programme commenced on August 14, in the Lecture Hall 16, A Block, YIASCM Balmatta. The department as a whole gave a vibrant salute to India for its 77 years of independence.

The event was inaugurated by the chief guest, Dr Balakrishna Kalluraya, head of the department of chemistry, YIASCM Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) along with Mervin Jaison Vas, head of the department of hospitality science; Safeena Banu, programme convenor; Teymour Sulthan, department president; and Mohammed Ashique, department UG secretary were also present on the dais.

The celebration featured a variety of cultural performances by students from different batches of the hospitality science department. The performances included a thought-provoking mime act, patriotic songs, and dynamic dance routines, all aimed at reflecting the importance of independence and the rich cultural heritage of India. A special presentation on the significance of Independence Day was also delivered by the students, further highlighting the historical importance of the day.

Adding to the patriotic atmosphere, the venue was very eye catching with the tricolour. In line with the theme, the kitchen team prepared tricolour laddus, and the food & beverage team presented a tricolour mocktail, symbolizing the unity and diversity of the nation.

The event concluded with a strong sense of national pride and a renewed commitment to uphold the values of freedom and unity. The Department of Hospitality Science successfully showcased not only the talent of its students but also their deep respect and love for the country.

Hajar and Gina of I BSc hospitality management skilfully compered the event, enthralling audience through a variety of cultural performances.
