Udupi: Requiem Mass, book release on late Fr Valerian Mendonca to be held on Aug 22

Udupi, Aug 19: The global parishioners of St Peter's Church, Barkur, have organized a day of remembrance and celebration of the life of Fr Valerian Mendonca. This event will take place on Thursday, August 22, marking a solemn occasion to honour the memory of a beloved spiritual leader, teacher, and musician.

A Requiem Holy Mass will be offered for the departed soul of Fr Valerian Mendonca, who passed away on July 3, at the age of 74. The Mass will commence at 11:30 am in St Peter's Church, Barkur, where Fr Mendonca served as parish priest from 2012 to 2017. Fr Henry C DSouza, SFX, Vicar of St Joseph Church, Mirjan, will be the main celebrant of the Mass.

Following the Holy Mass, a Nudinamana ceremony will be held in Sauharda Community Hall at 12:20 PM. This traditional ritual will be accompanied by a special event - the release of a commemorative book titled, 'Fr Valerian Mendonca: A Life Devoted, A Legacy Revered. 

The event will conclude with a fellowship meal, providing an opportunity for relatives, friends, and parishioners to come together, share memories, and celebrate the impact Fr Mendonca had on our community.

Fr Valerian Mendonca's influence extended far beyond his role as a parish priest. He was renowned as, an exceptional teacher, a gifted musician and a beloved spiritual guide

During his five-year tenure as the parish priest of St Peter's Church, Barkur (2012-2017), Fr Mendonca touched countless lives with his wisdom, compassion, and dedication to service.

The global parishioners of St Peter's Church, Barkur have invited all admirers, beneficiaries, and well-wishers of Fr Valerian Mendonca to join them on this day of remembrance.
