Udupi, Aug 19: “Governor, do not become a puppet of Home Minister Amit Shah,” said MLC Manjunath Bhandary during a press meet held on August 19.

Addressing the media at the district Congress office, Manjunath Bhandary condemned what he described as biased actions by the governor. He remarked, “Our elders fought for the constitution. Since the BJP came to power, in states where other parties are in power, they are trying to dismantle the government through the governor. They are ready to do anything for BJP to rule every state in the country. When all the guarantee schemes are implemented, they are criticizing them only till the next election.”

Bhandary also questioned the swift approval for prosecution in the MUDA scam case, stating, “There are numerous other cases that remain unresolved. Why are they not given prosecution permission? When a person with a criminal background gave a letter in the morning, how did you grant permission for prosecution by the evening? The Governor’s House should not become 'Rajakeya Bhavan'. If the governor wishes to engage in politics, please resign from the governor's post.” He urged the governor to avoid becoming a political tool for Amit Shah.

Former MP Jayaprakash Hegde also criticized the governor, stating, “The decision to grant prosecution in this particular case, amidst many pending cases, indicates a lack of thorough investigation. The governor has lost his dignity. They are trying to tarnish the 40-year successful political journey of Siddaramaiah. If the governor had any sense of morality, he would have stepped down. In the future, we will hold a legal protest. The in-charge authority for the Parashuram theme park case has been suspended; what if he was suspended due to their pressure?”

Present at the press meet were Udupi District Congress president Ashok Kumar Kodavoor, DCC campaign committee president Harish Kini, Udupi District Congress working president Kishan Hegde Kolkebailu, vice president Prakyath Shetty, and Congress leaders Prasadraj Kanchan and Muniyal Uday Kumar, among others.
