Puttur, Aug 20: A minor girl sustained injuries after being attacked by a youth who allegedly stabbed her following her rejection of his advances. The incident occurred on the morning of Tuesday, August 20, while the girl was on her way to college in town. The victim and assailant,reportedly belong to different communities.
According to the complaint filed, the youth, known to the victim and with a history of conflicts with the law, followed her and attempted to express his feelings for her. When she refused, the enraged youth reportedly used a sharp object to stab her hand before fleeing the scene.
The injured girl received treatment at Puttur government hospital. The Dakshina Kannada women’s police station has registered a case under FIR No 42/2024, with sections 78, 126(2), 118(1), and 238 of the BNS 2023 Act, along with Section 12 of the POCSO Act. An investigation is ongoing.
