Udupi private bus owners call off strike

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi

Udupi, Aug 21: The Canara Bus Owners Association has withdrawn the silent protest that was scheduled for August 23 against the increased toll rates at Hejamady and Sasthan toll plazas.

The decision to call off the protest comes after the National Highways Authority announced on August 19 that the implementation of the increased toll charges would be put on hold until further notice. The association's general secretary, Kuilady Suresh Nayak, stated that if the toll hike is reintroduced, the protest will be resumed.

Earlier, on Monday, the association had submitted a petition requesting intervention to MP Kota Srinivas Poojary and additional deputy commissioner Mamatha Devi. The highway department was also informed about the planned protest.
