Karkala: Sri Bhuvanendra Residential School organizes cross country race

Karkala, Aug 21: “Physical activity is the fundamental remedy for a healthy life, especially in combating health issues such as obesity, which are increasingly prevalent among children due to a lack of physical activity and excessive mobile phone usage. To avoid these problems, incorporating physical activity into daily life, particularly during school years, is crucial,” said  Radha Prabhu, principal of Dr NSAM English Medium High School, Nitte, during the inauguration of the Udupi District CBSE and ICSE Schools Association's inter-school cross-country race. The event was organized at Sri Bhuvanendra Residential School, Karkala, on August 17.

Dr Manjunath Kotian, a member of the school management board, elaborated on the importance of sports in his address. International athlete Akshata Poojary Bola attended the valedictory ceremony as the chief guest, distributed prizes, and shared her experiences in sports.

The overall champion trophy was won by Dr NSAM English Medium High School, Nitte, while the host team, Sri Bhuvanendra Residential School, Karkala, secured the runner-up title.

The event was presided over by K Venkatesh Prabhu, correspondent  of the school. Principal Pramila Kotian welcomed the gathering, while teachers Soumya and Ramya Shetty compered the event. Jyoti Hegde, Geetha Shettigar, and Nidhi announced the prize winners. Aarti Achar and Mahalaxmi expressed gratitude at the conclusion of the event. Nishant Anchan, the physical education instructor, played a key role in organizing the event. The event was attended by students, parents, teachers, and non-teaching staff.
