Sapalya Seva Sangh holds 70th annual general meeting in Mumbai

Mumbai, Aug 21: The 70th annual general meeting of the 84-year-old Sapalya Seva Sangh was held on Sunday, August 18, at Pejawar Math, Santacruz. Presiding over the event, Srinivas Sapalya, president of the Sangh, emphasized the importance of good education in shaping a cultured individual who can contribute to society's growth. He highlighted the various initiatives undertaken by the association to uplift the community.

Under the Sapalya Bhagya Scheme, the association has provided free sewing machines and training to women. The Sapalya Sanjeevini Scheme offers free medical tools and wheelchairs to the elderly suffering from health issues. Through the Nadaswara Scheme, the Sangh has been paying full-year education fees for students and offering free computer training under the Sapalya Education Scheme. The Sapalya Jyothi Scheme supports orphanages and old age homes with clothing, medical supplies, groceries, and financial assistance. Additionally, the Sapalya Animal Welfare Scheme provides food and financial help to animal shelters.

The event featured the release of Income Tax 80G exemption certificates and new registration certificates by Srinivas Sapalya. Mahesh Bangera of Aryash Financial Services delivered a lecture on financial investments and earnings.

During the meeting, scholarships, free books, and school supplies were distributed to students. Awards were given to those who excelled in academics, including full-year education fees for several children under the Nadaswara Scheme, and higher education scholarships in memory of the late Shri K T Kunder.

Art, photography, and poetry competition winners were also honored. Judges for these competitions were Reshma Acharya, Ravi Karkera, and Dr G P Kusuma.

Religious events included bhajans and the Satyanarayana Mahapuja, followed by prasadam distribution and a community meal. The event concluded with the national anthem.

The programme was conducted by various members, including Aishwarya, Rathika Sapalya, Samiksha Bangera, Shreya Puthran, and Usha Sapalya, with Bhaskar T Sapalya offering a vote of thanks.
