Mangaluru: St Agnes College celebrates Librarians Day

Mangaluru, Aug 22: "A leader is a good reader. In the current digital era, students should utilize both digital content and books for their academic purposes by frequently visiting the library," said Dr Sr M Venissa AC during the Librarians' Day celebration organized by the department of library and information centre, St Agnes College (Autonomous).

Dr K S Ali, the chief librarian and assistant professor in the department of library and information science at Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), Deralakatte, Mangaluru, was the resource person for the session titled 'Amplify Your Research: Maximizing Publication Impact'. The session addressed issues related to academic social networking sites and strategies for improving academic research visibility.

Dr Ali highlighted the importance of different indexing databases, scholarly research publications, and the creation of teacher profiles on platforms such as IRINS, Vidwan, and ORCID, to enhance the visibility of their publications. He advised scholars to amplify their research publications by selecting suitable topics, using effective writing tools, targeting the right journals, and enhancing research quality to increase visibility and impact.

The guests of honour Sr Carmel Rita A C, administrator; Sr Dr M Vinora AC, coordinator, Centre for Post Graduate Studies and Research, and Sr M Roopa Rodrigues AC, vice principal were present.

Dr Vishala BK, the chief librarian, welcomed the gathering, Avil D’Souza, librarian, proposed the vote of thanks. D Kavyashree B, assistant professor, provided feedback, and Yajusha, II MA student, compered the programme.
