Mangaluru: CFAL to present panel discussion on nature’s symphony on Aug 24

Media Release

Mangaluru, Aug 22: Centre for Advanced Learning (CFAL) is organizing a panel discussion to bring attention to the intricate relationships that sustain life on earth on August 24, from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm.

CFAL will host a discussion entitled 'Interwoven Ecosystems: Safeguarding Our Planet through Synergy of Ocean, Plant, and Insect Collaboration' at the TLC Art Cafe.

This event is presented by the Terramarine Alliance, will convene experts across marine biology, botany, and entomology, urging an audience of concerned citizens and scholars alike to rethink the vital interdependencies that define the earth’s natural order.

CFAL’s Nature Perspectives curriculum has long championed the understanding of such interconnectedness - understanding that human beings and ecosystems do not operate in isolation but in a delicate balance that requires time, love and care. CFAL’s upcoming discussion is a testament to this principle, gathering leading voices to dissect how marine, plant, and insect lifeforms collectively contribute to ecological stability.

Why this matters?

In a world living with the consequences of environmental degradation, the need for holistic conservation strategies has never been more urgent. Attendees of the CFAL event will find themselves at the confluence of cutting-edge ecological thought and practical action. They will be presented with insights into how the degradation of one ecosystem can have cascading effects on others, a theme that resonates with interconnectivity and responsibility.

Esteemed panelists

Among the speakers are:

Samuel John, co-founder of Spider & Sea: John, an entomologist of repute, will unravel the often-overlooked importance of insects in maintaining ecological equilibrium. His work aligns with the broader understanding that even the smallest creatures have outsized roles in our environmental tapestry.

Dr Smitha Hegde, director at CFAL Research Centre: With expertise in botany, Dr Hegde will explore the foundational role plants play in sustaining life on Earth. Her research emphasizes the symbiotic relationships that plants maintain with other life forms, a key theme in the dialogue on ecosystem preservation.

Nester Fernandes, project coordinator for MLOC at CCF: A luminary in marine conservation, Nester’s work has been pivotal in advancing initiatives aimed at the restoration of marine habitats. His insights will shed light on the oceans' silent role in underpinning global ecological balance.

A call to collaboration

The event underscores a growing realization among ecologists that the challenges faced by our natural world require not just awareness but coordinated action across multiple domains. By attending, participants will be positioned to contribute to a broader conservation effort, armed with knowledge that bridges the gaps between disparate ecosystems.

Who can enrol?

The event is open to all who wish to delve into the intricate web of ecological interactions that keep the planet alive. By fostering a platform for such discussions, CFAL continues its commitment to nurturing a generation of environmentally conscious thinkers.
