Mumbai, Nov 15 (IANS): A benchmark index for Indian equities markets Tuesday started trade with a negative bias with realty, banking and auto stocks under selling pressure.
The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the BSE, which opened lower at 17,081.62 points, slipped a tad to rule at 17,078.54 points, down 40.2 points or 0.23 percent from its previous close at 17,118 points.
The 50-scrip S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange also edged lower to rule 21.25 points or 0.41 percent lower at 5,127.1 points.
Broader markets were also ruling lower with the BSE 500 index down 0.35 percent. The BSE midcap index was trading 0.39 percent lower while the BSE smallcap index was ruling 0.16 percent down.
