Bantwal, Aug 23: Deputy commissioner Mullai Mugilan visited the Addur bridge to inspect its condition.

Following the deterioration of the bridge, the deputy commissioner had issued an order banning the movement of heavy vehicles over the bridge. However, this has caused considerable inconvenience to the public and students, leading local residents to request permission for bus services.

Responding to the public's request, the deputy commissioner announced that an expert team would arrive on August 26 to assess the bridge's capacity. After the team evaluates the bridge and submits a report to the district administration, a decision will be made regarding the bridge's future use. Until then, the deputy commissioner has requested public cooperation.

To prevent any heavy vehicles from crossing the bridge, a police monitoring system will be set up on both sides of the bridge.

The deputy commissioner also mentioned that a check post would be set up by the district police department on the Polali side and by the commissioner on the Addur side.

Bantwal tahsildar Archana Bhat and other officials were also present during the inspection.
