Bantwal, Aug 25: Dr Shreyas Dodihitlu from Father Muller Hospital stated that health camps become meaningful when the public benefits from them.
He was speaking at the inauguration of a series of free medical and dental camps, and a voluntary blood donation camp, organised with the support of various local organisations.
The event was hosted by the Dakshina Kannada District Garage Owners’ Association, Mangaluru, in collaboration with the Bhandary Samaja Sangha Ajjekal Bantwal, Karnataka State Tailors’ Association Bantwal sector, Daivagudde Friends, Baddakatte Bantwal, and Sri Sathya Sai Balavikas Kendra, Mangaladevi.
The free medical camp was conducted by a team from Attavar KMC Hospital while the free dental camp was provided by Yenapoya Dental Medical Hospital, and the Indian Red Cross Society, Mangaluru organised the voluntary blood donation camp.
In his address, Dr Dodihitlu emphasised that public participation in such camps is what gives them their true value.
Sudhir Poojary, president of the Garage Owners’ Association, Bantwal sector, who presided over the event, highlighted that the association frequently organises various social welfare programmes. “This health and blood donation camp has been organised with the intention of benefiting the public,” he said.
Other notable attendees included DK District Garage Owners’ Cooperative Society president Janardhana Attavar, Suresh Baindoor, director of Sri Sathya Sai Balvikas Kendra, Mangaladevi, Gopal Bhandary Punkedadi, president of Bhandary Samaja Seva Sangha, Nagesh, president of the KSTA Bantwal sector committee, Srinivasa Shetty, director of Daivagudde Friends, Dr Sucharita from KMC Hospital, and Dr Pramod Prabhakar from Yenapoya Hospital.
Member Siddique Melkar welcomed the guests and gave the introductory speech, while Prashant Bhandary offered the vote of thanks. Honorary advisor Sudhakar Salyan conducted the proceedings of the event.
