Bengaluru: Alliance University to hold ‘Cosmic Quest’ for National Space Day 2024

Bengaluru, Aug 24: Alliance University is set to launch ‘Cosmic Quest,’ an ambitious celebration of National Space Day 2024, aimed at inspiring the next generation of space enthusiasts and innovators. The event, scheduled for September 7, at the university's central campus, comes at a time when India's space programme is gaining global recognition.

‘Cosmic Quest’ will feature a range of competitive events, ranging from rocketry workshops to Mars colony design challenges. The university has invited two distinguished guests: Pallavi Mohapatra, a retired Indian Air Force helicopter pilot, and Dr Murthy Remilla from ISRO's Gaganyaan programme, underscoring the event's significance in India's aerospace landscape.

“This event reflects our commitment to fostering scientific curiosity and innovation,” said a spokesperson for Alliance University. “We're providing a platform for students to engage with real-world space challenges.”

The competition offers Rs 1.5 lac in total prize money, medals, and certificate wards, aiming to attract talented students from across the region. Events include:

1. Rocketry workshop and competition
2. Space quiz bowl (online)
3. Space art contest
4. Poster presentation
5. Mars colony design challenge
6. Space-themed robotics competition
7. Debate competition (online)
8. Model making (3D printed)

These events are designed for students from grades 8th to 12th and to cover various aspects of space science and technology, from practical engineering to theoretical planning and artistic interpretation.
