ICYM Puttur deanery organizes Yuva Dabazo 2024

Puttur, Aug 28: Yuva Dabazo 2024, organized by the Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) - St Paul Eastern Puttur deanery in collaboration with the ICYM Puttur unit, was held on August 25.

The event began with an inauguration ceremony, presided over by Fr Lawrence Mascarenhas, vicar forane of Puttur deanery. The dais was shared by notable guests including Jerald D’Costa (vice president of Mai De Deus parish pastoral council), Fr Rupesh Tauro (director of ICYM Puttur deanery), and Rohan Dias (animator of ICYM Puttur unit). Also present on the dais were Joyson Emmanuel, president of ICYM Puttur deanery; Anson Monteiro, secretary of ICYM Puttur Deanery; Vivin Lobo, president of ICYM Puttur Unit; and Disha Mascarenhas, secretary of ICYM Puttur unit.

The inauguration began with a hymn led by the members of the ICYM Puttur Unit, invoking a spirit of unity and faith. This was followed by a warm welcome address delivered by Vivin Lobo, who extended heartfelt greetings to all the participants and dignitaries present. The ceremonial inauguration was then carried out by Fr Lawrence Mascarenhas, by unveiling the banner containing a special message emphasizing the essential qualities necessary for today’s youth.

Following the inauguration, Fr Rupesh Tauro addressed the gathering, focusing on the pivotal role of youth in society. He also lauded the executive committee's diligent efforts in organizing such an impactful event. In his presidential Address, Fr Lawrence Mascarenhas echoed these sentiments, encouraging the youth to make wise life choices and congratulating the organizers for their successful planning. Brian Sequeira, actor in the upcoming Konkani movie 'Poyann', shared few thoughts about the movie. He also shared his experiences in ICYM, inspiring the attendees.

The inauguration concluded with a vote of thanks by Joyson Emmanuel, who expressed gratitude to all who contributed to the event’s success. The programme was smoothly conducted by Prafulla Jyotsna of ICYM Maril Unit, who served as the master of ceremonies.

Following the inauguration, the youth participated in Ice-breaking Action Songs and an insightful session on 'Back to Basics of Investment' by Leo Amal A (senior manager at Franklin Templeton). Raveena Lobo of ICYM Bannur unit introduced the resource person. Active participants were recognized with gifts, and Leo was presented with a memento.

The programme included a Holy Eucharistic Mass celebrated by Fr Rupesh Tauro, followed by lunch. The afternoon featured a lively flash mob and fun games conducted by Elroy Saldanha from Omzoor, with assistance from Deanery executive members. Prizes were distributed to winners, and Fr Lawrence presented a memento to Elroy.

The event also saw visits and good wishes from priests and several ICYM leaders, including Fr Jason Lobo (parish priest of Nidpalli), Fr Victor D’Souza (parish priest of Sullia), Fr Lohith Mascarenhas (assistant parish priest of Puttur) Sharvin D’Souza (PRO of ICYM Mangalore diocese and representative for Puttur deanery), Wilson Pinto (social cause secretary of ICYM Mangalore diocese), Mithesh D’Souza (immediate past president of ICYM Mangalore diocese), Reshal Monteiro (secretary of ICYM city deanery), Arrol Sequeira (president of ICYM Bantwal deanery), Melroy D’Souza (secretary of ICYM Bantwal deanery), and Roshan Sequeira (Red Drop representative of ICYM Bantwal deanery).

The day concluded with a DJ session, leaving participants with joyful memories of an inspiring and engaging event.
