Udupi: SMVITM organizes entrepreneurship awareness programme

Udupi, Aug 30: The entrepreneurship development cell of SMVITM in association with Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME), Mangaluru, ministry of MSME, government of India organised an “Entrepreneurship awareness programme” to spread awareness about entrepreneurship among the students on August 29.

The programme was started by lighting the lamp.’

Harish Kunder, president of the District Small Industries Association, Udupi inaugurated the session and highlighted the significance of entrepreneurship in the current economic and social landscape. He also discussed how entrepreneurship fosters innovation, creates jobs, and drives economic growth.

Kunder spoke about the various support systems and opportunities available for entrepreneurs in the district. In his concluding remarks, Kunder highlighted the role of the district small industries association in providing guidance, mentorship, and networking opportunities to aspiring entrepreneurs. He assured the participants that the association is committed to supporting new ventures through advocacy, training programs, and access to resources.

Sundar Sherigar M, the assistant director of the MSME development and facilitation office in Mangaluru, delivered an inspiring speech at the entrepreneurship awareness programme, emphasizing the critical role of entrepreneurship in driving economic growth and fostering innovation.

Sundar Sherigar highlighted the importance of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) as the backbone of the Indian economy. He discussed how entrepreneurship contributes to job creation, economic diversification, and innovation. He encouraged participants to consider entrepreneurship as a viable career path, emphasizing that SMEs are essential for sustainable economic development. He explained the various initiatives and schemes offered by the MSME Development and Facilitation Office to support aspiring entrepreneurs.

He spoke about financial assistance, training programmes, and mentorship opportunities available for startups and small businesses in Mangaluru. He urged participants to take advantage of these resources to turn their ideas into successful ventures. In closing, Sundar Sherigar motivated the participants to be proactive, leverage the available government support, and network with industry experts. He reminded them that entrepreneurship is a journey filled with learning opportunities and that the future belongs to those who dare to innovate and take risks.

Later principal Dr Thirumaleshwar Bhat delivered the presidential remark by mentioning the institution’s aim in producing entrepreneurs and what are the future planning of the entrepreneurship development cell of SMVITM to help the students become an entrepreneurs.

All the coordinators of the entrepreneurship development cell, deans, HODs, faculties, staff and students were present in the programme. The programme began with the invocation by Spandana Aithal of the second-year CSE branch. The programme was conducted by Ranya, who is in the second year of the artificial intelligence and machine learning branch.
