Second day’s Novena held at Our Lady of Health Minor Basilica, Harihara

Davanagere, Aug 31: The second day’s Novena at Our Lady of Health, Minor Basilica, Harihara, Davanagere district, diocese of Shimoga was held on August 31.

Novena began with rosary, procession and Novena led by rector of the Minor Basilica, Fr George K A.

Then Fr Franklin D'Souza, Diocesan youth director, Diocese of Shimoga offered the Holy Eucharist. He preached his homily on the theme: “Mother Mary is Blessed Mother of the Church”.

He stressed the importance of holiness in lives as one follows Lord Jesus and God is God of small things as He raises the lowly. He narrated how blessed Mary was nurtured and guided by her parents. He said, "We should follow her example in our lives."

Fr George K A, rector of Our Lady of Health Minor Basilica, Fr Maxim Dias, Karnataka regional secretary for BEC & Proclamation - Bengaluru, Fr Richard Pais, director of Karnataka Regional Organisation for Social Service - Bengaluru, Fr Vijay Sylvester Anthony, Fr Alphonse Lobo, Fr Lawrence D'Souza, parish priest of Nirmala Mathe Church - Harappanahalli, Fr Alvine Stanislaus, manager and correspondent of Lourdes Boys School - Davanagere, Fr Richard Mascarenhas SJ, assistant parish priest of Our Lady of Health, Minor Basilica, Harihara and religious sisters from Harihar community, Davanagere community, Hiriyur community and Harappanahalli community were present.

After the Mass, Fr Franklin D'Souza led the benediction and priests prayed over the pilgrims.
