Kundapur, Sep 2: The Konkan Railway Corporation has announced a special train between Velankanni and Madgaon, acting on the instructions of MP Kota Srinivas Poojary, who considered the request from the coastal Christian community.

In anticipation of the Velankanni Festival in September, the Kundapur Railway Committee had submitted a request on behalf of the Kundapur Christian community to introduce a special train for the festival.

Ganesh Puthran, president of the Kundapur Railway Committee, had presented this request to the MP, urging him to consider it. In response, during a meeting last week with the Managing Director of the Konkan Railway Corporation, the MP gave clear instructions to introduce the Velankanni special train.

Following these instructions, today the Konkan Railway announced the special train schedule: The train will depart from Madgaon on September 6 at 12 pm, reach Kundapur at 4:20 pm, and arrive in Velankanni the next day at 12 pm.

On the same day, the train will depart Velankanni at 11:50 pm and, after passing through Kundapur at 6:40 pm the next evening, will reach Madgaon at 11 pm.

Sources suggest that based on the response to this special train, a regular train service might be announced in the future.
