Mumbai: 96th AGM of Bunts Sangha held

Mumbai, Sep 3: Praveen Bhoja Shetty, president of Bunts Sangha Mumbai said, “Presidentship of Bunts Sangha Mumbai is a huge responsibility. I am lucky to get this position by the grace of God and the cooperation of the members of the sangha. I remember the service of all who have brought this sangha to this day. At present there are 140 members and I am lucky to be the president. Bunts Sangha president is like full time job. Due to the cooperation of kind hearted donors the sangha has grown to this level.”

Praveen Shetty was speaking after inaugurating the 96th AGM of Bunts Sangha of Mumbai which was held on Sunday morning at Srimati Radhabai Timmappa Bhandary auditorium of Bunts Bhavan at Chunnabhatti of East Kurla.

Praveen Shetty further said, “Bunts Sangha is not an organization for time pass. This is a strong prestigious sangha that gives opportunity to work for honest people. Men and women have equal responsibilities here. Everyone in the committee has got responsibility. This organization can move forward only through love and affection. My responsibility has increased due to the immense encouragement, support and dedication from the beginning of assuming charge as president. I express my gratitude to the Bunts team, executive committee, pillars of the sangha like trustees and staff of the office. We have shoulders the responsibility unitedly. We are aiming to scale higher through service.”

Vice president of the sangha Mahesh S Shetty, honorary chief secretary Dr R K Shetty, honorary treasurer CA Ramesh B Shetty, joint secretary Girish R Shetty Tellaru, joint treasurer Shashidhar K Shetty Innanje, executive president of women wing Chithra R Shetty, working president of youth section Savin J Shetty, working president of education and social welfare committee Divakar Shetty Indrali, working president of Povai education committee Ratnakara Shetty Mundkur, Working president of central education committee B R Shetty, working president of higher education committee Adarsh B Shetty and working president of Borivili education committee Ravindra Shetty Karnire were on the dais.

Retired members Aikala Harish Shetty (former president of the sangha, president of Federation of World Bunts Association), Dr Virar B Shankar Shetty, Ultoor Mohandas Shetty, former presidents Dr Padmanabha V Shetty and B Vivek Shetty were present in the AGM. Udaya G Shetty of Dombivili regional committee who got maximum members registered to the sangha in the previous year was given gold medal of the sangha. The plaque of honour for first place cash prize sponsored by Aikala Harish Shetty for the best regional committee of the year was received by Anand D Shetty of Dombivili regional committee and second place plaque was received by working president of regional committee of Bhiwandi-Kalyan-Badlapur Subodh Bhandary.

Annual Late Y G Shetty memorial award which the sangha presents on the joint aegis of Buntarawani and fans association was presented to writer and teacher Pramoda Surendra Mada. Cash prizes in memory of Ramanath S Payyade (for brilliant students of SSC and HSC) and late Shankar Shetty in memory of Tejamanjari Shetty (for brilliant students who completed engineering) were presented. Sponsors Umakrishna Shetty, Latha Jayarama Shetty (former working presidents of women wing), Anil S Shetty, working president of membership campaign committee, working president of Buntarawani committee Karnoor Mohan Rai, honorary chief editor Ashok Pakkala were on the dais and congratulated the winners. Editor Premanatha Shetty Mundkur read the honour letter of recipients and extended wishes.

Dr R K Shetty presented the report of last AGM and additional GM and annual activities of the sangha and also conducted the proceedings of the meeting. CA Ramesh B Shetty presented the balance sheet of the last year. Information on social welfare committee was given by working president Divakar Shetty Indrali, on central education committee by working president B R Shetty, on Powai education committee by working president Ratnakar Shetty Mundkur, report by secretary Gautam S Shetty, on higher education committee by secretary Sagar D Shetty, on Borivili education committee by secretary CA Jagadeesh B Shetty Suratkal, on higher and professional education fund coordinator Kishore Kumar provided. Sukumar R Shetty read the list.

Aikala Harish Shetty, Dr Virar Shankar Shetty, Dr Sunita M Shetty, Krishna V Shetty, CA Sadashiva B Shetty, Dr Prabhakar Shetty Bola expressed their opinion.

Ravindra M Bhandary (Central Mumbai), coordinator of regional committees, Bantarawani Balaga, youth and women wings of the sangha, Sukumar N Shetty (East Mumbai), heads of various regional committees, office bearers, members, former office bearers and several members of the sangha were present.

President Praveen Shetty, along with the office bearers offered pooja to Sri Mahavishnu, Mahaganapathi and Goddess Durgaparameshwari that were installed at Jnanamandir in the campus of Buntara Bhavana and flagged off the AGM. Later in the auditorium the AGM was flagged off officially with Bunta Geethe. Shailaja Shetty sang the prayer song. President offered mementos to eminent persons who gave donations to the sangha. Girish R Shetty Tellaru rendered vote of thanks. The AGM concluded with national anthem.
