Mangaluru: St Aloysius PU College conducts self defense workshop

Media Release

Mangaluru, Sep 4: In today's world, the ability to defend oneself is an essential skill, especially for young individuals facing unpredictable situations. Recognizing the importance of personal safety and empowerment, St Aloysius Pre-University college recently organized a comprehensive workshop titled 'Art of Self-Defense' at the college indoor stadium.

The workshop aimed to equip participants with vital self-defense techniques, enabling them to confidently protect themselves in potentially dangerous situations.

The event featured national-level karate and kickboxing champions Janvi K Bangera, Ridhyana D Ganiga, Aryan Sai, Sarthak S Shenoy, along with Vindhyashree and Trishul Shetty, who demonstrated and taught participants essential self-defense techniques including punches to vulnerable areas, elbow strikes, blocks, eye attacks, and methods to escape and hand grips in a simulated 'street attack' scenario. Together, they provided hands-on training in critical self-defense methods, ensuring that participants left with the knowledge and skills necessary to respond effectively in real-life scenarios.

The practical demonstrations and the emphasis on real-world application made the session not only informative but also highly engaging. St Aloysius Pre-University College remains committed to offering such initiatives that promote the safety and well-being of its students, empowering them to face challenges with resilience and assurance. Staff convenors, Sheldon Andrade, Joseph Prem Saldanha, Bakyalakshmi and Usha A J coordinated the workshop.
