Mangaluru: Teachers' Day celebration held at St Theresa's School

Media Release

Mangaluru, Sep 5: The festivities began on September 4, with a solemn Holy Mass at St Sebastian Church, led by Fr Lesten Lobo SJ. He shared the parable of the ten virgins, encouraging teachers to embody wisdom and serve as guiding lights for their students, much like Jesus. Students also offered prayers for their mentors.

On September 5, class 10 students, under the guidance of the principal and vice principal, organized a meaningful programme to express their gratitude to their teachers. Staff members were greeted with a drumbeat as they entered the main hall. The event began with a prayer service and a warm welcome followed by a speech about the significant role teachers play in shaping students’ lives. The programme featured dances, games, a humorous skit, and heartfelt songs, creating a joyful and memorable atmosphere.

Students presented flowers and mementos to their teachers as tokens of deep respect. Principal Sr Lourdes commended the students for their excellent organization and reminded everyone that teachers not only educate but also shape the future by building character and contributing to society.

The PTA marked the occasion by donating a new beverage vending machine, which was inaugurated by school correspondent Sr Shaila. The PTA also added a symbolic touch by lighting candles and passing them to the educators. PTA vice president Collette Cabral welcomed everyone, and PTA member Ruksana extended greetings to the teachers. Sr Shaila, Sr Lourdes, Sr Reena, along with teachers and PTA representatives, cut the celebratory cake. In her message, Sr Shaila expressed gratitude for the teachers' dedication, describing teaching as a vocation and calling them the backbone of the school, mentors, and role models. She also thanked the PTA for organizing such a wonderful programme.

The celebration concluded with fun-filled games, gift presentations for the staff, and a festive lunch, making it a joyful and memorable day for all.
