Udupi, Sep 5: The newly installed streetlights along the Manipal-Parkala main road, within the Udupi City Municipality limits, were inaugurated by Yashpal Suvarna, the MLA of Udupi Assembly constituency.
Speaking on the occasion, Yashpal Suvarna expressed that it was a long-pending demand of the people, now fulfilled, and it was significant to inaugurate the streetlights during the auspicious Gauri Ganesha festival. He added that the installation of the streetlights, from Udupi Coastal Bypass to the Parkala border, would provide convenience for safe and smooth travel for the public.
Approximately 117 streetlights, installed at a cost of around Rs 1 cr, have been set up from near MIT Manipal to the Parkala municipal border. The Udupi City Municipality, in collaboration with Bharadwaj Enterprises, oversaw the installation.
Several dignitaries were present at the event, including Udupi City Municipality president Prabhakar Poojary, council members Sumitra Nayak, Ashwini Arun, Vijayalakshmi, Manjunath Manipal, Balakrishna Shetty, TG Hegde, Harish Shetty, Giridhar Acharya, Girish Anchan, BJP Udupi city president Dinesh Amin, and local leaders such as Dileep Hegde, Hemant Kumar U, Devu Poojary, and Akshit Shetty Herga.
