Mangaluru, Sep 6: Teachers' Day is a special occasion dedicated to honoring and celebrating the invaluable contributions of educators. It is a time to express gratitude for their dedication, hard work, and the profound impact they have on students' lives. Teachers' Day highlights the essential role that educators play in shaping the future by imparting knowledge, fostering curiosity, and inspiring personal and academic growth. It serves as a reminder of the commitment and passion that teachers bring to their profession, and the lasting influence they have in guiding and nurturing the next generation.
The students' council of St Aloysius Pre- University College organized a special event to honor and celebrate the dedication and hard work of teachers. The event commenced with a heartfelt medley of songs, followed by captivating dance performances dedicated to the teachers. As a gesture of appreciation, the Students' Council also presented self designed bookmarks to all the teachers, serving as a token of gratitude for their unwavering commitment and contributions.
A celebration for all staff members was organized in the Loyola Hall. The formal programme commenced with a graceful welcome dance performed by the teachers. This was followed by an inspiring and motivational address from the principal, Fr Clifford Sequeira, SJ. Fr Clifford, drawing on an anecdote about Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, an alumnus of a Jesuit institution, highlighted the profound impact that educators can have on their students' lives. He emphasized the formative and transformative power of teaching, highlighting the pivotal role that teachers play in shaping the future of their students. He further stressed the importance of the three A's in the life of a teacher: acknowledgement, astonishment, and Appreciation. The Principal acknowledged and thanked the teachers for their contributions to the institution and extended his best wishes for the day.
Following the principal’s address, Niha Fahim, the compere of the programme, conducted games for all the staff, adding an interactive and enjoyable element to the event. A series of engaging performances took place. The college’s supporting staff delivered a moving group song and an impressive dance performance. Members of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) highlighted the attributes of a teacher through a creative presentation, which included a melodious song and an accompanying dance performance.
Subsequently, a dance drama was presented by the teachers from the commerce, arts, Kannada, English, French, statistics, and counselling departments. What followed was a dynamic dance performance by the teachers of the chemistry, mathematics, and computer science departments.
As a gesture of appreciation, the Principal distributed gifts to the teachers. The vote of thanks was delivered by John Wesley, the coordinator of the programme. Fr Pradeep Sequeira, SJ, the finance officer; Fr Anthony Derrick, SJ, the campus minister; vice principals Muralikrishna GM and Vilma Fernandes; and deans , Dr Pradeep M and Kiran Shetty , co-coordinator Vidhyalaxmi R were present at the event. The teachers’ day celebration ended with a sumptuous meal.
