Mangaluru: MLC Ivan D'Souza claps first shot at Muhurat of Tulu film 'Kankanady'

Mangaluru, Sep 8: The muhurat ceremony for the Tulu film "Kankanady," produced by HPR Films and the team behind the film "Pulimunchi," and directed by Trishul Shetty, took place at the Urva Shri Mariamma Temple in city.

MLC Ivan D'Souza clapped the first shot, while Prakash Pandeshwar handled the camera for the opening scene. The event was inaugurated by MLC Ivan D'Souza, who stated that there are many talented artists in the district. He emphasized that these artists should be given opportunities to showcase their talent to society. He also encouraged viewers from all religious communities to watch and support Tulu films.

Tulu Academy president Tharanath Gatti Kapikad spoke about how the Tulu language has spread across the world. He highlighted the significant role that Tulu theater and films have played in preserving the language. He noted that Tulu plays and films serve as ambassadors for the language.

Konkani Sahitya Academy president Joachim Stany Alvares expressed hope that, along with comedy films, movies with strong social messages will also be made. Dr Devadas Kapikad mentioned that talented individuals like Trishul have a bright future and urged actors to perform with dedication and devotion.

The event was attended by producer Hariprasad Rai, Prakash Pandeshwar, entrepreneur Muralidhar Rai, Aravind Bolar, Balakrishna Shetty, Ismail Moodushedde, Rahul Amin, Master Flower Pakirabb, Navya Poojary, Lanchulal, Roshan Shetty, Naveen Salyan Malpe, Prakash Shetty Dharmanagar, among others. The program was compered by Nitesh Shetty Ekkar.

Hariprasad Rai has invested in the production of the "Kankanady" film, which will be shot entirely in the Dakshina Kannada district. The cast selection is ongoing, and several veteran actors are part of the film.

The film, directed by Trishul Shetty, has cinematography by Mayur R Shetty, music by Kishore Kumar Shetty, dialogues by DBC Shekar, art direction by Harish Nayak, editing by Ganesh Nircial, publicity design by Devi Rai, stunts by Chandru Bande, and choreography by Dikhshit Kumar and Naveen.
