Mangaluru, Sep 9: A woman was seriously injured at Ramanagara, Kinnigoli, after being hit by a speeding auto-rickshaw while crossing the road.
The injured woman, Chethana (35), a resident of Rajaratnapura, was collecting pigmy deposits when the accident occurred. She was on her way to pick up her daughter, Vaibhavi, a seventh-grade student, from her tuition center. As Chethana crossed the road, an auto-rickshaw traveling at high speed from Kateel to Kinnigoli struck her and overturned.
The accident took place in front of Vaibhavi. Chethana was trapped under the auto-rickshaw, but Vaibhavi and local youths quickly lifted the vehicle, rescued her, and rushed her to a private hospital in Suratkal. Chethana sustained serious injuries, while the auto-rickshaw driver, passenger, and others involved suffered minor injuries. The incident was captured on nearby CCTV.
