Mangaluru, Sep 10: Reshel Bretny Fernandes, a young and accomplished author, writer, and orator, released her second book, Bharat @2047 - Role of Youth, at the Mangalore Press Club. Published by Taneesha Publications, the book explores the vital role of youth as India approaches its 100th year of independence. It highlights how youth power can shape the future during this ‘Amritkal’ through contributions across various fields.
Dedicated to her grandfather, Sgt Alex Monis from Moodbidri, who served in the Indian Air Force for 36 years and participated in major wars like World War II, the Indo-China conflict of 1962, and the Indo-Pak wars of 1965 and 1971, the book reflects her deep national pride.
The foreword is written by Rajesh Padmar, a lecturer, author, and thinker from Bengaluru, who praised Reshel for inspiring youth through her ideas.
Reshel has been honoured with the Rabindranath Tagore Literature Award and Bharatiya Sahitya Sanmaan by Dawn Research and Development Council, among other prestigious accolades. Recently, she was awarded the ‘Author of New Era’ Award by Authors of India, New Delhi.
The event was attended by Prof Krishnamurthy, principal of Govindadas College Surathkal, who gave an introductory address, along with other distinguished guests including P B Harish (president, Mangalore Press Club), Srinivas Nayak Indaje (president, DK Working Journalists' Union), Ranganath Kini (former corporator, MCC), Prof Tara Rao (former principal, GFGC Balmatta), and Ronald Fernandes (retired teacher and former state council member, State Govt Employees' Union), who released the book and congratulated Reshel on her achievements.
Reshel is currently pursuing her LLB at SDM Law College and is the daughter of Ronald and Nancy Fernandes, both teachers. She is an alumna of Sri Mahaveera College, Ladyhill PU College, and DPS MRPL Mangaluru.
