Mangaluru, Sep 12: A bike rider not only hit a pedestrian at Kinnigoli central bus station but also assaulted him on Wednesday, leading to the public intervening and confronting the rider.
The incident occurred when the bike rider collided with a pedestrian, causing the pedestrian’s mobile phone to fall onto the road. When the pedestrian politely asked the rider to drive more carefully, the youth became enraged and slapped him. A verbal altercation ensued between the rider and the gathering crowd.
A large crowd had assembled at the bus station to watch the Ganeshotsava celebrations in Kinnigoli and was shocked by the rider’s actions. Despite the public’s attempt to reason with him, the youth continued to argue. As the crowd grew, the matter was reported to the Mulky police station. The police eventually intervened and took the youth to the station. More than 100 to 150 police officers were present in the area for the Ganeshotsava procession, and it is said that without their involvement, the situation could have escalated further.
