Mangaluru: St Aloysius PU College hosts District-Level Handball Tournament

Mangaluu, Sep 12: St Aloysius Pre-University College, Mangaluru, organized a District-level Handball Tournament in association with School Education Department (PU) at the Gonzaga grounds. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from various colleges across the district, showcasing exceptional talent and sportsmanship.

Vilma Fernandes, vice principal of Commerce and Arts, St Aloysius PU College, inaugurated the tournament. Dr Gladwin Pamela Fernandes, sports coordinator, welcomed the gathering. Physical directors, sports secretaries, members of the sports Committee, students, and players from various colleges were present for the inauguration. The tournament featured 11 teams in the boys' category and 4 teams in the girls' category, each vying for top honors.

The valedictory ceremony, a moment of pride and celebration, was presided over by the principal, Fr Clifford Sequeira SJ. In his address, Fr Clifford commended the players for their dedication and spirit. Fr Clifford presented the awards to the victorious teams.

In the boys' division, SDM College, Ujire, clinched the championship, with Sathya Sahitya College securing the runners-up position. Vittala PU College earned third place, while Vivekananda PU College finished fourth.

In the girls' division, St Aloysius PU College delivered a stellar performance and emerged as champions. Vittala PU College were the worthy runners-up, followed by Canara PU College in third place, and Yedapadav PU College securing fourth position.

The event concluded with the national anthem, marking the end of a day filled with athletic excellence and reinforcing the spirit of sportsmanship. Naveen Kumar and Usha A J, the physical directors of St Aloysius PU College, along with the sports committee, coordinated the event.
