Udupi: Sugamya District Women's Federation submits appeal over violence against women

Udupi, Sep 13: The Sugamya District women’s federation, Udupi, submitted an appeal to the president, prime minister, and chief minister through the deputy commissioner, condemning the ongoing violence, rape, and murders of women and girls in Kolkata and across the country.

The federation, which has over 6,000 members, emphasized the need for stringent legal measures to ensure the protection and safety of women and girls. The appeal demands the creation and implementation of strict laws to address and prevent such incidents.

The appeal was submitted under the leadership of Janet Barboza, a representative of the State Women's Federation.

During the submission, federation officials present included presidentGracy Mendonca, secretary Flavia D'Souza, vice presidents Ancila Louis and treasurer Cynthia D'Souza, joint secretary Florin Mendonca, and Marina Louis, among others.
