Udupi, Sep 14: A shocking incident has emerged in Udupi where a three-and-a-half-year-old child has been the victim of a severe assault.
On Thursday, September 13, in the morning a child, named Prerith, was brought to the Udupi Government Hospital by his mother due to her own health issues. During the examination, severe injuries were found on the child's body.
Noting the severity of the injuries, health officials referred the child to the district hospital for further treatment.
The District Child Protection Unit also visited the hospital for an assessment. Following a complaint filed by the Child Protection Officer, a case was registered at the Amasebailu Police Station on Friday.

The child’s mother, Poornapriya, has not provided any information regarding the injuries, and due to the child's unconscious state, no details about the cause of the injuries are available. The police have begun an investigation into the case.
Nagarathna Nayak, the child protection officer, stated that the injuries on the child are significant and indicate a severe assault.
According to the information provided by the district health officer, the team visited the hospital, received updates on the child’s condition, and confirmed that the child is currently undergoing treatment and is in the process of recovery.
The child protection Unit has formally lodged a complaint at the Amasebailu Police Station regarding the incident.
