Bantwal: Traffic circle named after Brahmashri Narayana Guru to be rebuilt

Bantwal, Sep 16: A crucial meeting was held at the Brahmashri Narayana Guru Sabha Bhavana here to plan the reconstruction of a traffic circle named in honour of Brahmashri Narayana Guru.

The meeting, chaired by MP Captain Brijesh Chowta, brought together key officials from the National Highway Authority of India and prominent community leaders.

The traffic circle, located on the B C Road-Addahole national Highway, was damaged during the road reconstruction work. The gathering focused on devising a plan to rebuild the traffic circle with innovative features. A preliminary proposal was discussed, aiming to integrate new elements while preserving its cultural significance.

A committee of local leaders will be formed to guide the reconstruction process. This committee will gather inputs from the community to design an aesthetically pleasing and culturally relevant traffic circle. The design will then be reviewed and finalised in consultation with the authorities.

Bantwal MLA Rajesh Naik emphasised the need for high-quality construction that reflects the legacy of Brahmashri Narayana Guru. He also advocated for the installation of streetlights on the flyover to enhance visibility and safety.

Key participants included Abdul Ajmi, project director of the National Highway Authority of India, Vasu Poojari, president of the Municipal Council, Baby Kunder, president of BUDA, Sanjeev Poojari, taluk president of the Billava Association, former MLA Rukmayya Poojari, Chennappa Kotyan, president of the Bantwal BJP Mandal, Harikrishna Bantwal, former president of Keonics and Bhuvanesh Pachhinadka, vice-president of the Billava Association.

The meeting concluded with Yuvavahini president Dinesh Suvarna Rai extending a warm welcome, and Billava leader Harikrishna Bantwal delivering a vote of thanks.
