Mangaluru: Seira Felix of St Aloysius PU College launches debut collection of poems

Media Release

Mangaluru, Sep 17: Seira Felix, a second-year student at St Aloysius Pre-University College, proudly unveiled her debut poetry collection, ‘A cry heard as a song’. This collection explores the delicate balance of emotions, thoughts, and perceptions, offering readers a glimpse into the unique poetic voice of one of today’s most promising young talents.

The collection was recently released at St Aloysius Degree College (Deemed to be University) during the Aloysian Fest 2024, where Seira was invited as the guest of honour.

A cry heard as a song’is thoughtfully divided into four parts: “garden-variety,” “not to over thinkers,” “tender core,” and “in the ownership’s illusions.” Each section invites readers to pause, reflect, and see themselves in the pages. As Seira explains, this book is not just a collection of poems but an invitation-an invitation to explore the essence of the human experience in a way that is both deeply personal and universally relatable.

The collection embodies years of quiet observation, curiosity, and artistic expression. It is less about finding the "right" interpretation and more about discovering your own.

Seira Felix began writing in the fifth grade. Reflecting on her journey, she shares: “Writing these poems allowed me to explore different perspectives and appreciate the little things in life that often go unnoticed. This book is for everyone, and each poem is crafted with an open mind, allowing for multiple interpretations. I believe you will find something that speaks to you. Allow this book to walk alongside you on a journey, and listen to its voice. This collection is not just a reflection of my thoughts and experiences, but also a mirror in which you might see your own reflection.”

In addition to writing, Seira enjoys a variety of hobbies, including horse riding, ice skating, drawing, dancing, singing, and playing the guitar. These passions contribute to her multifaceted artistic identity, enriching her poetry with depth and perspective.

Seira’s debut collection promises to be a significant contribution to the world of poetry, inviting readers to explore the intricate layers of human emotions and experiences.

The principal, Clifford Sequeira SJ, along with the faculty and her fellow batchmates, conveyed their joy and extended heartfelt congratulations on her remarkable achievement.
