Mangaluru, Sep 17: Carmel English Medium Higher Primary School, CBSE, celebrated International Literacy Day on September 13 with a lively and impactful programme. The event commenced with a prayer service, followed by a captivating welcome dance where students showcased their joy and enthusiasm through expressive movements. Sanvi D Gatty delivered the formal welcome speech, introducing Sr Anitha and coordinator Roopa who graced the occasion.

Nidhi provided deep insights into the significance of Literacy Day, focusing on this year’s theme of promoting multilingual literacy. Sr Anitha, in her address, highlighted the transformative power of literacy in shaping not only individual lives but also the future of communities and nations. She emphasized the importance of education in empowering people, fostering inclusivity, and building a society that values knowledge and understanding.

The boys performed a rhythmic dance, further capturing the audience's attention with a mime show featuring expressive hand movements. A skit titled 'Saksharatheya Magic Key', integrated with dance, brought the message of literacy to life, portraying how education opens doors to opportunities. This was followed by another thought-provoking skit that underscored the value of education and its role in changing lives. Energetic dance performances by both boys and girls added to the day's celebrations.

As a part of Literacy Day celebration, students helped the academically weaker students of Stella Maris Kannada Higher Primary School by teaching them to read and write. It was a memorable and an enriching experience for both.

A PowerPoint presentation further stressed the importance of Literacy Day, offering informative content on the impact of literacy worldwide. The event concluded with a harmonious group singing performance. Aadya delivered the vote of thanks, expressing appreciation for the efforts of all those who contributed making the day memorable. The programme was seamlessly hosted by Manasvi and Avni Abhilash, leaving a lasting impression on the audience about the importance of literacy in shaping a better future.
