Mangaluru, Sep 17: The Expert PU College at Kodialbail celebrated the joyous occasion of Onam with great fervour and enthusiasm, embracing the rich traditions of the Kerala harvest festival. The event was a splendid display of colours and culture, aimed at welcoming King Mahabali and celebrating the bountiful harvest season.
The celebration commenced with a significant moment as architect, Deepika A Nayak, inaugurated the event by lighting the festive lamp. This symbolic act marked the beginning of the Onam festivities, signifying the enlightenment and prosperity that the festival brings.
One of the main attractions of the celebration was the intricately designed Pookkalam. This captivating design was a visual spectacle. A lot of effort and creativity went into crafting this beautiful Pookkalam by the student fraternity.
Adding to the cultural extravaganza, the college staff also presented a traditional dance 'Thiruvathirakkali'. This dance involves graceful movements and rhythmic steps.
The teaching and non-teaching staff adorned themselves in traditional attire, with the teaching staff wearing elegant Kasavu sarees and the male staff donning the Kaili mundu.
