Mangaluru: Ladyhill Victoria Girls Composite PU College organises 'Mehendi' competition

Mangaluru, Sep 20: ‘Intricate, exquisite and stunning’ Ladyhill Victoria Girls’ Composite PU College organised 'Mehendi' competition on September 14 with a lot of enthusiasm and zeal.

No festival or rituals can be completed without its presence. It was organised to enhance creativity and unleash the hidden potential in the students.

The theme being “Bridal or Floral”, the students expressed their ideas through beautiful designs on their partner’s hands with help of 'henna'. The students participated in this competition with great enthusiasm.

Many beautiful designs were on hands in the form of 'Mehendi'. This competition was an interesting and a unique way to express creative talent of students and gave each of them an opportunity to contribute in some way or the other to a creative pursuit.

The judges were astonished to see the efforts of the students. A time limit of 1 hour was given. There were 42 participants in total. The judges were Zaima (ex-student of Ladyhill Victoria Girls Composite PU College), She is presently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree in fashion design, refining her artistic vision and technical proficiency) and Poornima (lecturer in Kannada of Ladyhill Victoria Girls Composite PU College).

The judgement was based on authenticity, intricacy, symmetry and visual appeal. Each of the designs prepared by the students was a treat to the eyes. This fun filled activity witnessed an enthusiastic participation of all the students.

This competition also had a motive to inculcate among the learners an interest in tradition and customs of India exhibited on various festive occasions. The 'Mehendi' competition was a resounding success, showcasing the talent and creativity of our students. Such events play a crucial role in fostering a sense of community and celebrating the diverse cultural backgrounds within the college.
