Udupi, Sep 21: A delegation from the Udupi district Taxi Men and Maxicab Association, led by former MLA and district president K Raghupati Bhat, met with transport minister Ramalinga Reddy to request a relaxation of the mandatory GPS and panic button requirements for maxicabs. The delegation also raised various other concerns related to their services.
During the meeting, the minister engaged in an extensive discussion with the delegation. Responding positively to their concerns, Reddy assured them that he would consult the transport commissioner to seek an appropriate resolution.
Following this, the Udupi Taxi Men and Maxicab Association delegation met with the transport commissioner to further advocate for their issues and demands.
Also present during the meetings were K Anand, president of the Dakshina Kannada Taxi Men Association; Ramesh K Kotian, general secretary of the Udupi Taxi Men Association; treasurer Prakash Adiga; joint treasurer Krishna Kotian; organising secretary B Vikram Rao; and Bengaluru Taxi Men presidents Shivanna, Rajkumar, and Radhakrishna Holla.
