Beltangady, Sep 21: The BCA Department of Sacred Heart College, Madanthyar, inaugurated its IT-Forum 2024-25 on Saturday, September 21.

The event was graced by the esteemed presence of president Prof Alex Ivan Sequeira, principal of Sacred Heart College, along with chief guest Dr Shreesha Bhat, assistant professor in the department of physics at Vivekananda College of Engineering and Technology, Puttur.

Other notable attendees included Janardhana Rao D, HoD of the BCA Department, Viyola Serrao, coordinator of IT-FORUM, and the office-bearers for the year: president Wilson Rodrigues, vice-president Vilas, secretary Rashmitha P, and treasurer Melani Sonal Lobo.

The inauguration ceremony commenced with a prayer song led by Tejadri from III BCA, followed by the lighting of the lamp. Wilson Rodrigues warmly welcomed all attendees. Prof Alex Ivan Sequeira then launched the departmental website created by third-year BCA students.

In his presidential remarks, he expressed enthusiasm for the establishment of the IT Forum, stating, “Such fora are vital in fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment for students pursuing Bachelor of Computer Applications.”

Following the inauguration, the audience was treated to an enlightening discussion on ‘The Impact of Social Media in the Current World.’ The speaker raised awareness about the proper usage of social media, emphasising, “It’s important to adapt to current technology and cultivate self-motivation as a driving force for achieving one’s goals.” He encouraged students to embrace challenges as opportunities for growth.

Students actively participated and interacted with the guest through questionnaires. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Melani Sonal Lobo, the treasurer of IT-FORUM. The programme was hosted by Hritheeka from III BCA.
