Bantwal, Sep 22: Deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district Mullai Muhilan, joined in the joy of children at the 6th annual Kesarugadde Sports Fest held in Ananthaadi village.

As the song "Hadu Santhoshakke... Kunidhoo... Thaalakke..." echoed, he joyfully danced in the mud with the kids, leaving the villagers astonished and thrilled.

In his speech, the DC emphasised that farmers are the backbone of the nation. He stated that when farmers are happy, the entire world thrives. He also highlighted the importance of farmers overcoming climatic challenges and underscored the significance of agricultural culture in the region.

Alongside the deputy commissioner were his wife and child, adding to the festive spirit of the village. The event was presided over by Anish Ashwattadi, president of the Navabharat Youth Association.

The flag hoisting was conducted by Dr Roopalatha Kongalayi, and the event was inaugurated by Rama Kishan Rai, president of the Lions Club Mani Zone. Various sports activities were organised for children, women, and men in the muddy fields, showcasing traditional Tulu culture.

The programme was welcomed by Yateesh Poonja and hosted by Venkatesh Master.
