Mangaluru, Sep 24: The Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy, under the joint patronage of St Joseph the Worker Church, Vamanjoor, and Sangathi Vamanjoor, celebrated Konkani Kala Sambharam at the Vamanjoor Auditorium on September 22. The closing ceremony was a grand affair.

The dignitaries on the dais included Fr James D'Souza, chief pastor of city zone and parish priest of Vamanjoor church; Fr Ivan Ashwin D'Souza, assistant parish priest of Vamanjoor church; Dolphy Casia, senior writer from Vamanjoor; Charles Pais, vice president of Vamanjoor church; Patrick Lobo, member of Sangathi Vamanjoor; Shekhar Gowda, director of the Sesu Gowda Kudmi Folk Art Society, Kompadav; Keshav Rai Kamath, businessman from Vamanjoor; Sunil Siddi from Mundugod Yallapur; and Sapna Crasta, member of the Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy and program coordinator. Roshan M Kamath was also present on the stage.

The dignitaries inaugurated the programme by playing the drums.

Sapna Crasta was honoured on the dais for her achievements and for being selected as a member of the Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy.

Sapna Crasta from Vamanjoor welcomed the gathering, and Patrick Lobo delivered the vote of thanks.

The programme was compared by Sunil Pinto and Lavina Menezes. A mesmerizing performance depicting Konkani culture and tradition was presented, showcasing the richness of the heritage.

The event concluded with a brass band and a Baila session, adding to the celebratory atmosphere.
