Zardari Spokesperson's Email Hacked

Islamabad, Nov 24 (IANS): The email account of Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari's spokesperson, Farhatullah Babar, has been hacked.

The account was hacked Tuesday night soon after Husain Haqqani resigned as Pakistan's ambassador to the US, reported Dawn.

Haqqani quit Tuesday over a secret memo that was sent to the US.

Pakistani-American businessman Mansoor Ijaz last month alleged that a senior Pakistani diplomat asked for help in getting a message from Zardari to then chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Mike Mullen.

Ijaz alleged that Zardari feared a military takeover following the US raid that killed Osama bin Laden in his hideout in Pakistan town of Abbottabad May 2.

The email hacker sent the text of a 'memo' to some people, claiming it was the 'real memo', sources told the daily.

Babar got in touch with the authorities concerned and asked them to look into the matter.

A few hours later, experts set it right.
