Mangaluru, Sep 25: St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru celebrated NSS Day on September 24, with an engaging and entertaining programme.

The highlight of the event was the oath presided by the chief guest, Prof Roshan Vincy Santhumayor, vice principal & HOD of commerce department, Padua College of Commerce and Management, Nanthur, Mangaluru, an experienced NSS volunteer with over 21 years of service in NSS. In his speech, he shared his journey in the NSS, emphasizing how community service shapes individuals and impacts society and to prevent violence against people.

Prof Roshan quoted the words of Mother Teresa - “A life not lived for others is not a life” and Mahatma Gandhi - “The best way to find yourself, is to lose yourself in the service of others.” He urged the students mentioning that "Don't be the star in the sky, but be a candle in the darkness or in the home". His speech encouraged students to embrace service as a lifelong commitment and to make a difference in their communities.

All actions performed during the year 2023 were projected through an amazing presentation showcasing the enormous zeal of the student’s performance and enthusiasm of the activities taken up.

The event began with a prayer led by Aditi and team, followed by cultural performances such as a welcome dance by Diya and team, vibrant fusion dance by Sushmita and team inculcating various dance forms across nation, and a song by Bhoomika and team, creating a lively atmosphere. Aysha compered the programme. The vote of thanks was proposed by Hadi, bringing an end to a meaningful and inspiring celebration of NSS Day.

The programme officers, Dr Udayakumar B, department of Hindi and Preetha Tauro, department of BCA along with assistant programme officers, Chethana, department of BBA and Dilson, department of BCOM were present for the occasion.
