Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar slapped and Punched by Youth

New Delhi, Nov 24: At the NDMC centre here the Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar was physically attacked by a youth on Thursday November 24.

Pawar was attacked when he was coming out of the office of New Delhi Municipal Corporation after attending a function organized there.

The youth who dared to attack the minister was Harvinder Singh who was present among the audience and slapped the minister on his face and punched in his back when the latter was trying to move out.

Singh is the same fellow who had attacked former telecom minister Sukhram in the past. It is said that he was angry with the minister’s inability to tame rising inflation and check the spiraling prices of essential commodities. He has been taken for interrogation by the security officials.

"This is my answer to corrupt politicians," shouted the attacker as he took out his kirpan when security guards tried to overpower him and whisked him away. Singh was also heard shouting, "Sab ke sab chor hai saale (everybody is a thief)".

"I came planned to the event to slap the minister," Singh boldly admitted.

"I was answering some questions by a group of journalists when I saw this man coming towards me and I thought he wanted to ask me a question. I don't know what his intention was. It is up to the police whether they want to press charges against him or not," Pawar said reacting to the incident.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh spoke to Minister Sharad Pawar and condemned the assault.

Violence is violence and must be condemned in every way, shape and form.

Though many of your readers have directly or tacitly supported the beating and some have even suggested that others should be beaten, I think this anger comes due to the frustration and helplessness of being unable to do anything on their own, as they see their leaders squander their money and enrich themselves.

But just blaming politicians and attacking them is not enough, we need to do some soul searching as to how these “Chor’s” have come to power, so here are my questions:

-Why was the turn out on Election day so low and why did so many people not vote ?
- Did your religion, Caste, Creed play a role in chosing the right candidate?
- How many of you know and are fully informed of the parties manifesto and the personal integrity of the candidate?
- How many of you actually supported a candidate with noble intentions and impeccable honesty in cash or in kind in his or her attempt to win the election and to represent you?

Hence, if we ever have to slap any politician (though it is wrong) we first have to slap the many millions who elected them, or through their inactions or all of the above that were responsible in bringing them to power.

Ministers must not keep these words “I think or I thought” from their brain dictionary from now onwards (mein ne socha kuch be kiyatho chalega, mein sochtha hum kho kohi kuch darnahin sakthaa). Because from - aaj se nahin chalega mantriji.

From now onwards these two words “I think or I thought” must be replaced with “If” – thappad marathoo? Gooli marathoo? Publickho gussa aayatho?

See the website of Ministry of Commerce .Indians Top exports is Software then comes Gems and Jewels .then Garments ,Minerals ,Engineering goods,Machineries etc Agricultural is not the main commodity .Rather we Import Apples from China .There are many things Govt can do to improve the Production of Agricultural Products I just gave Onion exports as example and for your Knowledge I will give another eye opening exmaple how govt can change .we are getting Apples from Himachal Pradesh in India .Previously the Apples were available only during some seasons and were getting Spoiled ,due to Over production .So Govt made many Cold storage facilities Installed ,Govt gave Loan to Farmers to Buy Cold storage and now we are getting Apples Round the Year and hence Farmers also win we are also getting Apples to eat .Still they need more Facilities for transport of apples .This is just one exmaple how Govt can act and Change and hence control price rise ok?

Taking the law on to our own hands and give punishment to the guilty as per our beleif is not at all justified. It must be condemned BUT slapping or beating by a teacher for his student is offensive but wont consider that way. It was because of the goodwill of the student .

Thus nothing wrong in slapping the peoples representatives in public for their improvement in serving the people. They are answerable to the people who voted them.
