Sakshi Karkada of Mount Carmel shines with double podium finish at state athletic meet

Mangaluru, Sep 25: Sakshi Christina Karkada, a standout athlete of Grade X from Mount Carmel Central School, Mangaluru representing DK district, showcased an exceptional performance in the U/16 Girls category in the Karnataka State junior & U/23 Athletic Meet 2024, organized by the Mysuru District Athletics Association held from September 14 to 17 in Mysuru. She bagged a commendable silver medal in the Pentathlon (comprising Long jump, shot put, 60 mtrs race, 600 mtrs race and 80 mtrs hurdles) and clinched a bronze medal in the 80-meter hurdles, marking a remarkable achievement in her athletic journey.

Having qualified for the South Zone Junior Athletic Championship scheduled from October 17 to 19 in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, Sakshi will represent Karnataka at the National Junior Athletic Championship in Bhubaneshwar, Odisha from October 25 to 29.

Sakshi, the daughter of Jeevan Karkada and Deepthi Karkada, is being trained by Khelo India Coach Bhakshith Salian, Mangaluru.

The school management, staff, students and parents have extended their heartfelt congratulations to Sakshi Karkada for her exceptional performance and wished her greater success at the South Zone and National Championships.
