Puttur: St Philomena College hosts campus recruitment drive

Puttur, Sep 26: In a significant step towards bridging academia and industry, training and placement cell of the college, in collaboration with global IT giant Accenture, organized a campus recruitment programme aimed at providing students with career opportunities in the competitive corporate world. The event was inaugurated by the principal of the college, Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, who also presided over the programme.

Addressing the eager crowd of candidates, Dr Monteiro emphasized the importance of the campus recruitment process as a crucial step in students’ professional development. “Participating in campus recruitment helps students realize their potential,” he stated. “An interview is not just a process but the beginning of self-discovery. In today’s rapidly evolving workplace, success is determined by more than just academic scores. Having a learning attitude, strong communication skills, critical thinking, creative problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to work within a team are essential.” He encouraged students to engage in the recruitment process with a positive attitude and wished them all the best for their future endeavours.

Alfonse Amit, Accenture India’s campaign recruitment associate manager and an alumnus of St Philomena College, delivered a special address, offering valuable insights into the significance of campus recruitment. Reflecting on his own journey, Amit expressed his gratitude to the college for shaping his career path. He also outlined Accenture’s comprehensive four-stage recruitment process and the key skills that the company looks for in prospective employees, emphasizing the importance of adaptability, problem-solving, and teamwork.

Prayer led by Raveena and her team. The placement officer of the college, Geeta Poornima K, welcomed and provided an introduction to the event, highlighting the efforts made by the college in securing meaningful employment opportunities for its students. Dhanya PT, a member of the placement cell, proposed a vote of thanks. Akshata, compered the programme.

Also present on stage was Abhishek Suvarna, the college placement officer. Dr Radhakrishna Gowda, head of the business administration department, and Praveen, another member of the placement cell were present on the occasion. The event was well-attended, with students from various departments participating in the recruitment process, hoping to secure placements with one of the world’s leading IT firms.
