Puttur: St Philomena College (Autonomous) inaugurates certificate course ‘Yakshamrutha’

Puttur, Sep 26: Yaksha Kalakendra, St Philomena College (Autonomous) and NS Kille Foundation, inaugurated its prestigious certificate course on Yakshagana operatic theatre art, titled ‘Yakshamrutha', at the PG Seminar Hall on Wednesday. The course aims to preserve and promote the rich cultural heritage of Yakshagana among students.

Naveen Bhandari, executive officer of the taluk panchayat, inaugurated the event, emphasizing the reflective impact Yakshagana has on shaping student personalities. He lauded the college for taking the initiative in fostering cultural and literary advancements through such programmes.

Kadamajlu Subhash Rai, president of NS Kille Foundation, urged students to actively engage in Yakshamrutha training, expressing hope for future programmes in memory of NS Kille.

Principal Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro presided over the event, encouraging students to develop their personalities through the arts. The director of Yaksha Kalakendra, Prashantha Rai Mundalaguthu, welcomed the gathering, while Meghashree of IIIBCA proposed a vote of thanks. The event concluded with a saxophone performance by Manasa, I BSc.
