Mangaluru: Yenepoya holds valedictory programme of Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2024

Mangaluru, Sep 30: Yenepoya Naturopathy and Yogic Science College and Hospital, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University). The valedictory programme of Rashtriya Poshan Maah - 2024 was held on September 28, at Yenepoya Naturopathy and Yogic Science College and Hospital, organized by the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics. This event celebrated the successful culmination of a month-long initiative focused on promoting nutrition awareness and healthy eating practices.

The programme began with a warm welcome address by Dr Sunitha, assistant professor, who highlighted the importance of nutrition in daily life and commended the active participation of students and faculty throughout the month.

Following the welcome, the lamp lighting ceremony was conducted by the chief guest, Dr SN Raghavendra, professor in the department of Postgraduate Studies and Research in Food Science at St Aloysius (deemed to be university). This symbolic act marked the beginning of the celebrations and the illumination of knowledge.

Dr Sunitha then presented a comprehensive report on the activities conducted during Rashtriya Poshan Maah, which included awareness camps and exciting competitions such as ‘Cooking Without Fire', ‘Traditional Cooking', and the ‘Nutri Quiz'. Winners of these competitions were recognized and awarded prizes, celebrating their creativity and knowledge in nutrition.

The event also featured the release of the magazine ‘Poushtikam.’ Ajith K, assistant professor cum dietician, read insights from the magazine, emphasizing its role in disseminating nutritional knowledge and fostering community engagement.

In his address, chief guest Dr SN Raghavendra stressed the significance of nutrition education and research in building healthier communities. He encouraged students to apply the knowledge gained during the Poshan Maah in their future endeavors.

The event was presided over by Dr Puneeth Raghavendra, in-charge principal, who praised the organizing committee for their efforts and highlighted the importance of such initiatives in promoting health and wellness.

The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Ajith K, who expressed gratitude to the guests, participants, and faculty for their support and enthusiasm.
